Resumo
Quality control of structural concrete has been conducted for decades through the axial compression test. This process is not exempt from considerable drawbacks. An appropriate Pull out Bond Test is proposed here as an alternative to the axial compression test of concrete. Well known and operated since the very beginning of reinforced concrete, this test gives the bond strength between concrete and reinforcement. The compressive strength of concrete has been shown to be closely related to the bond strength. This correlation may be used to check the strength of concrete from the results given by the bond test. This idea, applied in different places, with different concretes and deformed bars, in very severe technical conditions, gave results which fit with the correlation laws. Such a bond test could be qualified to become a test to assess the reinforced concrete strength.
