Resumen

Expressions present in national and international standards relating the elastic modulus of concrete with compressive strength. The concrete, three-phase composite material, has elastic properties directly affected by the transition zone, characterized by higher porosity compared to the cement paste. Micromechanical models such as the Mori-Tanaka and three phases sphere can be applied with good results when used for analysis of the concrete. This paper present a study on evolution of the elastic modulus of concrete, obtained by the application of normative expressions and micromechanics models. Compared to the experimental values produced, we find good agreement of values obtained from the micromechanics modeling with consideration of ITZ, as well as the quality of the expressions of NBR 6118:2003 and CEB-90.
