Analysis of the soil-structure interaction in buildings with deep foundations

Abstract

This paper shows how the soil-structure interaction (SSI) interferes in reinforced concrete structures in small buildings with deep foundations in order to analyze the influence of SSI on loads and settlements, global stability and material costs. The analyses were based on numerical-computational simulations of a commercial building using the commercial CAD/TQS software. The building was simulated with 4, 6 and 8 floors with 3 different soil profiles, generating 8 case studies. When considering SSI, the loads and settlements did not have significant variations and the global instability parameters stayed within the normative recommendations. The material cost of the structure was the least affected of the variables under study when SSI was considered.
